Why is the first impression a lasting impression?
Everyone knows that the first impression is important, because "a first impression is a lasting one". But why is it lasting? Why is it the thing that clicks and sticks in our heads? Opinions?

because usually that's when you see the person as they are, in their natural state, as they've not yet "tuned" themselves into dealing with u in a specific way. Once they get to know you they may act differently around you, more honestly or slyly depending on what they want from you etc

Most people don't have enough time to bother with a second impression. But if they did, they might discover they were dead wrong about someone. I like being wrong about people I thought were jerks at first. It restores your faith in humanity.
