Why do americans love football more than any other sport?
I watched the Super Bowl last night and i was wondering why do americans prefer football more than soccer and basketball? It doesn't make sense coz it's a hardly interesting sport and with less highlights and good moments than the other two sports i reffered to. And why does this thing last so long?3 hours and a half i think...it doesn't worth the time i think.

Is this a genuine question or just a jab at Americans?
Also, it's great that all Americans think and feel the same. A better question would be "Why is football so popular in America?"

As an American and having played most team sports I can totally see your point. It may sound strange to other Americans but Soccer has become my favorite sport in the past 10 years. There is nothing better than beating Mexico at soccer! Anyway American Football is also a great game, having played runningback all through highschool I can appreciate the technical side. American football is much slower than hockey or soccer but that is due to the collisions. The game has to have all those stops in between plays because the human body cannot take that abuse constantly for an hour. I agree that it is slow, its a fact that it takes 3 hours to play 25min of total action but it is still fun. It will never catch on with the rest of the world because of all the rules, expense, and lenght of time to play but we don't care its our game. I hate basketball but I can see why others like it, and cricket wow that is a slow game.

Americans feel the same way about the outdated sport of soccer. A soccer game has gone on too long after about 15 minutes of play.
When (IF either team scores) a team scores, they start faking injuries for the rest of the game trying to waste as much time as they can.
They run back and forth constantly because they can't control the ball well enough to score more than once every eighty times they head down the field, if that often.
The highlights of a soccer game would be the once or twice a game that either team scores, if that often,
So, you ask the same question that we ask about why anyone would still find soccer interesting after almost any other sport became available to watch.

I know what you mean.
I grew up in a city that has rabid football fans for a not-so-great team, and then I went to a 'Big Ten' university (pretty much just means they have a large and popular football team) so my life has been inundated in American football.
I have the attention span of a goldfish when it comes to sports so the whole, stop-and-go stop-and-go stop-and-go, bullshit of American football drives me nuts. There is like 30 seconds of action and then they need to review it and discuss it for 6 minutes at least. I hate sitting outside, freezing my *** off at a game, and although it says there is only "15 minutes" left on the clock, you know you're going to be there for at least another hour...
Minnow's comments are also more or less true about people's perception of soccer in most parts of the US. I only know women who play it...

In the US, soccer (your 'football') is only played by very small children who are too unintelligent/uncoordinated to play other sports such as baseball/football/hockey. When they are older they will usually switch to another more American sport. Soccer from then on is seen as a feminine or 'girl sport' and men who play it are not very masculine. So for obvious reasons most Americans are not going to be seen in public watching a professional soccer game (unless he is on his period).

Because it's the only sport that matters?
And baseball. A little of hockey.

Short attention spans. One game to decide it all. Not some 7 game playoff series.
