Disconnected wire on 97 Monte Carlo...?
Last Fall I bought a 97 MC with minimal Research...Desperate times and all that...
anyway, I recently found a wire under the hood with no clear port into which it should be connected...
The wire in question is located in the middle of a Wire gathering tube' (I know it has a real name, but I'm not a car guy, hence coming to Y!A) the tube in question also houses the 3 cables that are anchored to the Brace that goes over the Anti-Freeze Reservoir on the passenger side
I have searched all over and cannot see any other cables that are disconnected let alone one within reach of the offending wire..

Thanks for the Heads up Mailbox... the wire does end in a plug/clip, so being 'Live' shouldnt be an issue... in hind sight I should have clarified that...

It may lead to nothing at all. All cars have a wiring harness that contains wiring for each electrical component, some standard and for some optional components that your car may have not been equipped with, but has the wiring for it in this harness anyway. So it may be for an option that your car was not ordered with. Such as an alarm. If you do not have an alarm, the wiring will still be in the harness in case the dealer was going to install an alarm as an after sale. Understand??? Hope so.
good luck...and dont worry about that wire, just check it out to see if it is a live wire. If it is, make sure it does not come in contact with anything metallic.
