should I wait the month and a half, or rescue now?
so i have been trying to get rats for a while, and i was just informed that the breeder that i want to buy from doesnt have any more rats, and ill have to wait another month and a half before being able to get them from her. i loooked on petfinder and it said that there was two rats, ages 6 and 8 months available. should i wait the month and a half or get the older ones now? i no getting rescue rats is better, but i really want to know your answer without thinking about where their from.

I have to disagree - most breeders here love their stock too much to sell them as snake food.
It's really up to you. I haven't gone wrong with either so far. I got my two older boys from the RSPCA when they were three months old and they are incredibly loving and sweet. They were really well socialised, despite being rescue rats, and had a health guarantee. I got my second pair from a breeder when they were five and a half weeks old, and they have been just as lovely, if a bit more active.
I don't know much about petfinder. Have these two rats been kept together, are they healthy and what is their history? If you don't know too much about them, it may be safer to go with the breeder, but only if you like the breeder. Don't buy from a breeder you don't like.
Also, if these are your first rats, you may want to think about age. I really enjoyed getting my boys at 3 months because they were easy for an inexperienced owner like me to handle. Now that I'm more experienced I have no problem with little ones, but there is no denying that they move like someone has a rocket up their bums.
But hey, if the breeder rats and the rescue rats are the same gender, you could get the rescue rats now and two more from the breeder later on. :D Just a thought. :p

honestly, id say breeder.
cause breeders usually sell to pet stores for snake food.
petfinder animals are always guarenteed forever homes..
so in a way.. your saving 2, and you know the other two will have good homes.
so its a win-win! :D
a month and a half will fly by, i promise!
