Why would God be jealous?
Hi all,
I've been researching a little about world religions, and I've been struck by the fact that monotheistic Gods are universally jealous. All monotheistic religions seem to have strict commandments against the worship of any other God, or the practice of any other religion.
What I'm wondering is, why? It seems logical for a human to be jealous and not want people to give others credit for their hard work, but why would the perfect creator of the Universe be so concerned about being worshipped by humans?
I've heard the argument that if one worships the wrong God or follows the wrong religion, one may end up making immoral decisions--but then why is the practice of the "wrong" religion considered to be a serious sin in and of itself?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Jealousy is a character trait of all humans. Humans wrote all religious texts. Have your answer now?

As you said, the perfect Creator. The perfect Creator knows the big picture, knows what is best for His creation. When His creation start to live by ways that are not given by Him the system of life goes wrong as it is today and He doesn't want that for us. It's the same as if someone invented a new type of machine and others tried to tell everyone how to use it before they knew its full capabilities, the inventor of that machine would not like this to happen as they would know that if it is not run the way that he specifies, it will end up breaking. I have been a Muslim for 16 years and more and more I see the wisdom in the way of the Creator. I am constantly learning how the actions that He has ordered or prohibited are for either our own personal benefit or the benefit of humanity.

Remember, there is no wrong religion, it can not be defined because all religions believe they are the "true religion". this is a very tricky subject since there are no right answers, but there is a possibility gods, or god, could be human. Look at Greek mythology, their gods were obviously human and can show jeleousy (sorry if it i spelled wrong). Also remember that the bible could have been written by humans so they could have forgotten that or something. Im just looking at this at a theoretical perspective so you know.

It's not 'jealous' in the sense that we would use the word.
And making immoral decisions and practising a wrong faith is a serious sin, because it determines where you end up with God. This rule is for our own good :)

I loved this question, the reason is because it shows that there really is no god or gods. If there was really a god then why would he even care for us to worship him? does he have that bad of self-esteem issues?
