Weightloss ideas for teen?
I am 13, 5'1, 140 lbs and I am tired of it. The way I am proportioned, I do not look fat, I just don't look average. I play soccer, I take P.E. every other week day (in which I have to jog 10 minutes straight). I am more of a school student than an athlete, though, so much of my time is taken researching on my laptop and reading books. I usually only drink for breakfast, apple juice or water. (On breaks, weekends, vacations, etc. I sleep through breakfast) For lunch, I usually buy at school, but I either get pizza, chicken sandwich, pasta or chicken strips with sides of things like rice krispy treats, grapes, macaroni, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes. I usually get 1 side, 1 ontray and a skim milk. I stop when I'm full. At dinner, my mom stuffs me and makes me eat whatever is on my plate, and often gives me the leftovers because she doesn't want it to go to waste. We go to restraunts to eat a lot, once a week or more. It is hard for me to diet because it's not a pick and choose thing with me. My mom makes it, she's not going to make something else just for me. She makes it, I eat it. How can I adjust my diet, and exercise? I can't drive, so going somewhere to exercise is out of the question. Please help!

Choose healthier (and lower carb) options at lunch, like a salad with low-fat dressing or soup and half a sandwich. Avoid drinking sugary drinks like juice, or anything with calories in it. Water, unsweet tea, and coffee are good examples. When you fill your plate, try to fill half of it with vegetables, one quarter with a lean meat (fish, chicken) and one quarter with carbs like potato or bread. At your age, it's more important to be conscious of what you're eating than to deprive yourself or count calories. Good luck!

Sticking to a diet is not that impossible if you choose a diet designed especially for you. No two people are alike when it comes to eating healthy. Because people have a wide variety of tastes, what some would enjoy, others may despise. Only you can be the judge of what is right for you. In order to stick to a healthy diet you have to have a array of foods that you can live with. If you absolutely hate certain foods then it would be useless to include them in your plan. I would suggest that you list all of the foods that you will eat and plan your meals accordingly. Even include your splurges in moderation. If you are too strict on yourself, you will end up feeling deprived and blowing your diet.
I have taken on the 90/10 approach. I eat healthy foods 90 percent of the time and I allow myself a treat the other 10 percent. This system has its advantages. Because no foods are forbidden, you do not have the feeling of deprivation that you get from most diets. Furthermore, I try to eat six small meals a day. When I say small, I mean 300 calories or less per meal. Eating more frequently revs up your metabolism and keeps you satisfied because you are eating every 3 hours.
If you are not making an attempt to exercise each day than you will have to build yourself up to at least 30 minutes of exercise daily and 30 minutes of strength training every other day. Walking is the easiest daily exercise however; you want to add a variety to your regimen so that you will not get bored and give up. For example, swimming, bicycling, aerobics etc.
For strength training, you can do many exercises with little or no equipment. Push-ups, pull-ups, abdominal crunches and leg squats are all good exercises to tone your muscles and develop strong bones. You can also use resistance tubing, free weights, or a weight machine. I try to add diversity to my strength training too. It will keep you from becoming bored with the same routine and you can make sure you are working all the major muscles of your body.
