accessing files from computer on to phone?

I have android 2.1, how do I access my home computer's files to my phone? Just in case i'm at school and need something on my computer.

    Depending on your phone capacity you can transfer important files onto your phone itself.

    I am not sure if android phones have this, but windows phones have something called Mysnc, you can upload your files online to a sky drive and view them anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.
