If cancer has metastasized into three different areas, what is the chances of survival?
My grandfather has cancer in three different regions of the body. He has brain cancer, lung cancer and prostate cancer. What is the rate of survival for these cancers with intense treatment? What are the chances more cancerous cells will metastasize in his body even if there is a chance of survival?
I kind of figured that, his brain cancer was found first. That tumor is inoperable and its the size of a egg. This tumor is located inside the left hemisphere, near Wernicke's area and is affecting his speech. The most recent discovery is the spot on his lung, and I dont have much information on that one, and all I know from family is the conformation that he has prostate cancer. Three different cancers. I'm sure there's little hope but I thought I would try to get some more information. Its very stressful not knowing what to expect from this. THanks for the answer

Wow that's a doozie. I am really really sorry about that. Based on the information you gave, I would say that his odds of survival are well under 10%. Of course I can't be certain, as I am not given much information aside from where the cancer is. Even if he receives that most intense treatment out there he still doesn't have much more than a prayer.

I'm so sorry about your grandfather :(
The same thing happened to my best friend's mom (my 2nd mom), only it started as cervical and spread to her brain and lungs. She didn't realize she had cancer till the symptoms got pretty bad, and after that she went into chemo pretty much immediately and after about a month she got better, then worse again. It was like a roller coaster but after about 3months she passed on. It all depends on the person.
Sadly the chances of it spreading more (if it already has) are pretty high, but DON'T GET YOUR HOPES DOWN. There is still a chance b/c there are people who have survived with these types of nasty cancers and miracles happen every day. Keep faith, and prayers, and be there for him and that's all you can do.
He's in my prayers.
xoxo

It is very unlikely he has 3 different cancers. He probably has prostate cancer that spread to his lungs and his brain. Although prostate cancer generally spreads to the bones first. It doesn’t matter which was found first it matters when it originated.
There is a slight possibility it is two cancers.
Regardless of the primary site it is not curable, but if it is prostate cancer he will survive longer than if it were a lung primary.

gammaknife can give good local control of brain lesion if lung / prostrate lesions are in control.
