How long to let a realtor look for a house for me?
I'm a first time home buyer and new to realtors, so I don't know if my realtor is slow or if I'm just being impatient. So my question is: How long should it take from the time I describe to my realtor what I want in a house before the realtor starts showing me houses.
(By the way, I do know there are houses in my price range with features I described to her in my area, because I took an hour searching online and found over 30 potential candidates.)

I have never allowed a realtor to choose homes for me.
I have gone online first and chosen at least 5 homes in my area I want to look at.
This way she has a good idea of what I want in case we need to see more homes.
Most of the time, they spend another day showing you homes they think I would like from the homes I chose.
Take the ball into your own court and find homes yourself.
The realtor will be in charge of making the appointments and driving you around.
Hope you are pre-approved for a home mortgage through your bank - this will get you the respect you deserve.
Don't forget location is the single most important factor.
Even if a house is not great, you should look for good school districts, availability to major highways, hospitals, grocery stores, etc.
And don't forget to figure out the price per square foot.
I made sure I did not even look at any homes above $100 per square foot...

I could now not exhibit you whatever till you had supplied me with a pre-qualification letter or I obtained a decision out of your lender that you're a significant customer. Too many Realtors waste time with folks who wish to shop for, however aren't capable to shop for. Or exhibit residences which might be within the incorrect rate variety. But if you're a professional customer and feature been looking ahead to greater than a pair days to appear at residences, you'll be running with any person too busy to take you out watching.

I agree with Toni but I would add that you should just get in your car and drive by the ones that interest you....you don't get the whole picture when you look at houses online and sometimes one that looks good on the website will be in a bad location or falling apart when you see it in person. this way you'll make more productive use of your time with your realtor.
