We pay for Royal Wedding Why?
What are the chances the Windsors will pay for their own family weddings now that britain is in dire economic straights, I put them at 0% chance of doing so the government should ask them for big deposit(no chance also) just in case history repeats itself with royal marriages , Here we go again, again.

This is our Royal Family, man. Have some respect, please. I am embarrassed at your question.
I gladly give my tax dollars, in all respect for this. The cost of maintaining our Royal Family is extremely economical. Our Queen is full of common sense and no one may lay the charge of extravagance at her feet. Our Queen is frugal and common-sensical.
Yes, I gladly wish to help pay for the next Royal Wedding. Are yu a Briton or a stick-in-the-mus-Charley? Bear up, have some spirit and enjoy it.
This is our next King and Queen of England! Have some spirit!

I don't usually get drawn into answering questions like this, because in my view it is petit jealousy.
However, I am not saying that you are wrong but could you provide a credible source that actually states in black and white that the British public are paying for the Royal wedding. Where exactly did you read this? If you posted this question without first getting the facts, then I can only assume that you are just anti Monarchy and want to spread malicious gossip as a means of discrediting them in some way.
Can I also state that it is my firm belief that even IF we are paying for this wedding, it will bring in many tourists who will stay at hotels, buy Royal memorabilia and other items while on their visit from various buisnesses, it will help to enhance Britain's profile and with the various heads of state and dignitaries coming from all over the world it will inevitably help strengthen international ties. Surely this can't be a bad thing.
Also, whether we are Monarchists, Republicans or on the bench, can't we simply unite as one nation to wish this young and happy couple a wonderful life ahead rather than gossip or place bets on when or if a divorce will occur. I'm sorry but I find this question somewhat unneccessarily angry and bitter. The poor couple have announced an engagement and your as good as advocating that we should all be up in arms, rather than wishing them every happiness.

Well, think back to Charles' wedding....remember all those people who went to London and stayed there for a week before and days after the wedding? All those folks spent money getting there...for lodgings once they got there....for food once they got there....they bought souvenirs....and it was a huge onslaught of spending which went into all the cash tills of all the merchants in the area.
Not only Brits, but people from all over the world went to London...and they all spent money there, too.
Does the term "tourism dollars" ring any bells with you? Are you able to correlate the expense of "putting on a show" and the proceeds that you get from people who come to see the show? Usually a great show like a royal wedding is just like a smash hit movie....makes money!!!
So, yes, you pay for the Royal Wedding.; You will make a great deal of money for the country by doing it.....think of it like the movie AVATAR....way expensive to produce....but made a gajillion dollars!

Indeed why? The Royal family in its current guise is a disgrace and those who blindly follow it as ‘tradition’ and our heritage baffle me. This traditional element of our heritage has failed to overthrow legislation that bars Royals from marrying Catholics or converting. A truly great message being delivered from our ‘head of state’ there! I have no problems with the queen living in Buckingham Palace and being given a budget and healthy living expenses for trips she undertakes that garner income for the UK. However, take into account that:
'If only the queen’s personal assets are taken into account, she is worth several hundred million dollars, according to the Sunday Times Rich List and all royal possessions are added to the mix, her wealth runs into the billions.'
Those who argue the Royals bring in money- what about the Crown Estate and such things that the Royal Family hold in trust for the nation. The queen owns several Leonardo Da Vinci paintings. Would it not be in the nation’s interest to have these in a gallery? Why does the Queen require Balmoral as well as Buckingham Palace. Can she not use her immense wealth to pay for accommodation like everyone else?
As for comments that they make money or the wedding will be covered by tourism yes that may be the case, although no one has actually provided concrete evidence. Regardless of that one has to take into account staggering facts such as Prince Charles is granted power over the Duchy of Cornwall, an estate of some 135,000 acres located mainly in southwest England, valued in March 2007 at about $1.2 billion, up from $835 million in 2003. In 2006/2007 Prince Charles built a new town, Poundbury, on duchy land, where he has tested his ideas about architecture, the environment and town planning. The prince pocketed about $31 million, before taxes, from the duchy, up from about $20 million four years earlier. That is one example of many, but surely a man of such personal wealth can foot the bill for his son’s wedding. The Royal family as an institution belie the UK’s position as a democratic nation. They paid taxes for the first time in 1993 and when the queen dies, for example, the next monarch will pay no inheritance tax on her private wealth, as long as she leaves it to that heir. I for one refuse to support such an imbalance in how citizens are treated in the name of ‘tradition’. Congratulations to William and Kate and I hope they make good Royals who modernise. People are born poor, people are born rich and thus have greater opportunities but very few are born into a position of guaranteed immense wealth. It is obscene that we as citizens of the UK fund people who are born into such a position.

we've been advised WE, the unfavourable British Tax payers, are basically finding out to purchase the secure practices, yet small employers are having to pay workers etc an added days holiday pay, productiveness would be down, our city centres would be quiet ( some greater desirable travelers in necessary London make no difference interior the likes of Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow!!!) etc....

What was that Veritas? Be proud of your English heritage? You mean the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha family? They're a bunch of inbred horse faced Germans.
We pay for the royal wedding because we're suckers.

Because it will make far more money for the country than it will cost. It'll be a huge boost to the tourist industry in the short term, and a moderate boost in the longer term.

You also pay far more money for all of the immigrants that are turning the UK into a third world slum but the brits don't seem to be bothered by that so who cares.

The Royal Family have an income from their Crown Estates of £16 million and they pay 100% tax on it (if you're not very good at sums, that means it all goes to the Treasury). Out of that, we give them back £7.9 million to meet the costs of being Head of State. We're making a profit of £8.1 million a year out of the Windsors, and getting a Head of State and all that goes with it thrown in. So shut up or they'll want it all back and leave us paying £100 million a year on President Blair.

much as i actually don't mind the royals,i find myself in complete agreement with you.this also was to happen with the fire at Windsor castle, until there was an uproar, then they changed their minds and paid it themselves.when you consider that the queen is about the second richest woman in the world(behind onassis),i am sure it wouldn't "break the bank",for her to foot the bill?
