Okay, what's wrong with "Unstoppable"?

What are the technical errors in the new movie "Unstoppable," apart from the hammy excess emotion of the cast?

I haven't seen anything but the trailers. Those were enough for me.The million tons of freight was bull. The heaviest train i've personally ever ran was 19,800 tons(a coal train). So was the statement that we're gonna grab it and go the other way. That would never work.It would blow the traction motors out trying to reverse them at speed. The train tipped up to one side around the curve was pretty far out there too(though possible).Til it comes out on the premium tv channels i'll pass on watching it.As a rail of 35 years i have a hard time sitting through Hollywood's take on train operations. The only one i've seen that was true to life was Emperor Of The North.

Edit Just to note the movie is loosely based on an actual runaway. The truth is probably more interesting than the dramatized Hollywood version.Read this if your interestedhttp://kohlin.com/CSX8888/z-final-report.htm

Pretty much everything is wrong with the movie. I just saw "Red" this weekend with my significant other. in doing so, the beginning of our movie was pummled with rediculous "commercials" of other movies which i didnt pay to see. 'unstoppable' being one of them. this trailer was way longer than on TV. so i was privied to probably all the action scenes there are in this movie.

the one thing that really stuck out was this movie is based on a real life event. ( i know, but it actually said that on the screen ) i laughed. about the only thing i saw that was real in this movie was the fact they used real equipment. and thats all. everything else is hollywood. i repeat.... EVERYTHING.

so here i am, shaking my head after the trailer played, thinking i cant believe hollywood is that desperate as to fake a train movie. my significant other made the remark she would see it without me. i agreed! i would like to add that while 'Red' is not a movie for railfans, its a better buy. its a humorous outlook on an action film. kinda slow in the first 15 minutes, but gets pretty outlandish from there on. certainly many steps up from 'unstoppable' and also a movie i would pay to see again before paying once to see unstoppable.

in my opinion, unstoppable is a waste of money, time, and in filming it... was a shame to waste the equipment the way they did.

by the way.... Ernest Borgnine played excellently in Emperor of the North ( a dam fine movie! ) and also, suprisingly, plays a part in 'RED'. after all these years, hes still doing fine!

I haven't seen it yet either. I remember the 1985 movie, "Run Away Train" with John Voight. I was yelling at the screen, LOL. Those people stuck on the train couldn't stop it - according to Hollywood. But of course they could have with all the fail-safes and options available in real life. Because of that movie however, I'm not in any hurry to see "Unstoppable". I'm sure it's loaded with technical errors just as you have suspected. Wish I could list them for you. I'm just not the guy this time I'm afraid.

I sort of plan to see that movie, but I'm wondering if it's really going to be worth my time. I think it will be a decent movie, but the terminology won't be there. That's just my opinion.

    It's a movie....
