Does anyone know if flies sleep?

They have long periods of rest during which time they may enter a form of sleep. With no eyelids it isn't obvious of course!

Some flies such as Pollenia rudis gather together in clusters (Its other name is Cluster Fly) in an old barn or over an attic. There they will "sleep" over winter, to emerge the following spring. House flies do a similar thing but are often solitary at this time.

Perhaps you can enlighten our readers by conducting a simple experiment: first catch a fly and watch the darn thing noting all its actions then write up your findings.

Doesn't all living things? I think even plants do something 'considered sleeping.'

They have such a short life span . . . I think they eat, poop, and breed then they die . . . A course of 2 days.
