my dog - Used Kleenex fetish?

In the house. I can control the used kleenex issue...such as placing it in a closed garbage can. the kleenex can be in the bathroom( not used ) no problem.

Everything he picks up- no problem. I ask him to leave it or drop it. heck no problem.

but when it comes to a piece of kleenex outside. Its like World War 3. Even bribery with a treat does not get him to drop it..

I am frustrated. Is there any other tips that I could try?

Sounds like you have tried all the normal tactics or I would suggest those such as the treats, the training, the praise, etc.

Last ditch - have a friend go out with you, and bring some kleenex, and a spray of vinegar water, or some other nasty tasting, harmless substance (horseradish paste works as a very last resort too, but it is sooo unpleasant for them), and have your friend soil some clean tissues with that and leave them in your path (obviously picking them up after), see if you can train him to leave them alone that way, if he isnt interested but still goes after tissues, try having a friend walk ahead of you and spray any she/he finds out there. If you can train him that tissues mean that nasty taste, especially if you are good at spotting them and can tell him a signal word that means that tissue tastes nasty before he sniffs it so he wont go near it, then hopefully it will make him more disinterested in them.

Honestly, an untrained dog can be a real pain - a risk to himself, his owner and to other people and animals. Owning an undisciplined dog may result to:

    - Destruction to your home

    - Social isolation

    - Accidents

    - Injuries

    - Legal claims against you

    - Stress to all concerned

    - The dog being unwanted

Canines that always get their own way will believe that life revolves around them and for that reason they must be important. Since dogs are looking for controlling different resources than humans, their bid for power usually goes undetected until it’s too late. Obedience and house training your dog and ensuring he’s not raised to a top position inside the home will keep your relationship with him well-balanced in your favor, as it must be for satisfaction all round.
