What does is mean when your dog?

Pushes his food bowl with his nose, kind of like a slight push, then glides his nose from oneside to the other side of the bowl. Stares at his food then does it again

There is food in the bowl. We recently adopted a rescue dog and still trying to get him to eat decently....Does this mean he doesnt like or want the food in his bowl..

It means he doesn't like the food. It doesn't smell good to him. Try to find out what the rescue facility was feeding him and give him that. If you want to change him to a better quality food, you have to change it gradually. Check http://dogfoodanalysis.com/ to help you find a good brand of food. I had to buy small bags of different brands until I found one that my dog liked.

probably. ask what kind of food they were feeding at the rescue facility (if there was one). if there wasnt and he was a stray, hes probably not used to eating proper dog food. get some yogurt, baby food, cottage cheese (get the idea?) and mix it in. Just a little to give it a stronger scent and/or flavor to entice him to eat.

Try new dog food. If he doesnt still. Make some of your own with eggs and meat. If he still doesnt like it. Take him to a vet. He might have stomach problems.

Our dog something like that.. If there's a blanket in her cage she will push her blanket over top of it with her nose and even if there isn't a blanket she does the same movement. I just think of it as they are hiding it or saving it for later...
