ABOUT MARY MCKILLOP. THE BIBLE AND SAINTS?

The RCC has claimed her as a saint...Does the Bible support the supposition?

The scriptures say NO.

Ecclesiastes 9;5,6 ...the dead can have nothing to do with what happens on the earth. And Mary is dead.

ALL prayer should be directed to Almighty God...

Only Jesus can be the channel for prayer TO God.

John 14;6

Have you noticed how the RCC never uses the scriptures to support their actions...

    No

No one comes to God except through Jesus.

Dead people can not intercede on our behalf. They are dead & know nothing.

The dead can not worship God , so God can not be God to them.

    Ps 6:5 New Living Translation

For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave?

Okalee dokalee neighbor: Here's a scripture to support RCC teachings of the saints, to add to all the others that have been cited above.

    Hebrews 12:1

"With so many witnesses in a great cloud all around us, we too, then, should throw off everything that weighs us down and the sin that clings so closely, and with perseverance keep running in the race which lies ahead of us."

The end of Hebrews 11 was clearly talking about saints and martyrs who have died, so if they 'the dead have nothing to do with what happens on earth,' how can they be witnessing what we do "all around us"? Answer: They can because they live on in Christ, what the RCC calls the "communion of saints."

So now you have a bunch of scriptures from your Catholic friends. I bet next time you ask this question, you will say "the RCC always uses the scriptures to support their actions," right?

    Right?

    Right...

Why wouldn't she be a saint? Don't you believe in eternal life?

The Bible says we will all be saints. Revelation 8:4 -- "And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand"

What does this mean "prayers of the saints?" If they are dead how can they pray? Who are they praying for?

John 3:16 tells that believers will have eternal life. Why then do you not believe the words of Christ and assume that Mary Mckillop is dead? She died a believer in Christ.

<<ALL prayer should be directed to Almighty God...>>

Says who? John 14:6 does not say this. It says Jesus is the only way, which is true, but it doesn't say all prayers should be directed to God. Prayer and worship are not the same thing. Prayer is a request and we can request that others pray (make requests) to God for us. We can ask those living on earth and those living in the next life to pray for us.

If the dead are dead...how is it that Moses and Elijah appeared with Christ at the Transfiguration?

    Mark 12:27

He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err.

The bible tells us the Prayer of a Righteous person does much. Who more Righteous than the Mother of God and the Saints?

    Proverbs 15:29

The Lord is far from the wicked: and he will hear the prayers of the just.

    James 5:16

Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much.

Revelations 8:4 And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before God from the hand of the angel.

    DO YOU WANT MORE SCRIPTURE?

Everything about the Catholic Church is in the Bible, Everything!

    Peace be with you

Quelle(n): . . There is a differance between "Mediator" and "Intercessor". Prayer on the behalf of others is throughout the bible. Acts 8:24 And Simon answered, "Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me." 1Timothy 2:1 I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men:

Here are 2 biblical references to prayers by the saints

    Rev 5: 8

    8

When he took it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each of the elders held a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the holy ones.

    Rev 8: 3-4

Here are 2 biblical references to prayers by the saints

    3

Another angel came and stood at the altar, 3 holding a gold censer. He was given a great quantity of incense to offer, along with the prayers of all the holy ones, on the gold altar that was before the throne.

    4

The smoke of the incense along with the prayers of the holy ones went up before God from the hand of the angel.

The holy ones that are dead are alive in Christ.

btw I am Catholic and using scripture to support our actions

"Have you noticed how the RCC never uses the scriptures to support their actions..."

Have you noticed how ignorant, uneducated fundamentalist trolls never acknowledge all of the scriptures that support the things that they denounce, and instead only hand-pick one little verse here or there out of context and parade it around as if it somehow backs up their screwy ideas?

Yeah, that's one no one pays any attention to them.

When no one takes them seriously, they turn even more nutty and paranoid and attack other Christians, thinking it somehow gains them more 'legitimacy'... which in turn only makes everyone ridicule them more for continually digging themselves into an intellectual hole.

Kind of like what you're doing here, actually.

If you truly followed the RCC you would know that ALL Church doctrine is voluminously supported by scripture. Clearly you choose willful blindness as opposed to legitimate debate.

Why do you care so much about what the "RCC" does? I could give a rat's @ss what the Mormons do or say. Or the Jews. Or A$$HOLES like YOU!

Mary is not dead. Christ said "those who believe in Me will NEVER DIE". Catholics believe Him. Do you? Only Jesus can be a channel of prayer to God?? Jesus IS God. So, you don't ever ask anyone else to pray for you? And you never pray for anyone else? Sad. If you, an earthly sinner, can pary to God on behalf of others, why can't the heavenly saints do the same? Especially considering that Revelation specifically says they do.

We are all called to live saintly lives. The Catholic church has it's beliefs and teachings, as they are entitled to. Not up to you or me to judge what their practices are. Care to ridicule the Muslims? What they do isn't "in the bible" so why not go after them? What's your point?
