The voice coil is a former wrapped in copper or another type of metal wire. The impedance is the resistance.

What kind of amp you should get is wholly dependent on what voice coil configuration you get. Dont let any newbies or idiots tell you different voice coils produce different sound. Its strictly resistance, for wiring options.

"max" or peak wattage means absolutely nothing, its marketing. The RMS or in your case, nominal power is what to pay attention to.

Check these sites out...it is a good reference.

    - Also check this out http://www.youtube.com/ and all related videos...Look for the guy in the blue collared shirt. Type “car audio systems” in the search engine. He gives a lot of very good info.

If your headlight dims with the bass notes, the “BIG 3” might work. If not an H.O. alternator will be needed, or else be prepared to pour a lot of $$$ for batteries.

This site explains the "BIG 3" upgrades.

I've designed my car for SQ (Sound Quality) not SPL (Sound Pressure Level) my imaging is very good. The bass sounds as if it is up front and my 12 inch sub (picture as shown) in the trunk. I LOVE how it all worked out.

    GOOD LUCK and have fun…

well 1'st of all is it dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm? That makes a very big difference. thats is how you determine what amp you will need. here are some amps i found that will work.

if your sub is a dual 4 ohm you can use a kicker zx300.1, or a kenwood 6104D. They both push 300x1 @ 2 ohm. follow this diagram to wire your sub at a 2 ohm load. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configura...

If your sub is a dual 2 ohm you can use an mtx ta5601, or an eclipse xa1200. the mtx is rated at 300x1 @ 4 ohm, and the eclipse at 350x1 @ 4 ohm. follow this diagram to wire your sub at a 4 ohm load. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configura...

    Hope this helps.
