Alright well at my school we had a sports competition[Soccer] and a friend and i took responsibility, we organized everything, bought things and all. So it was all good.
We rented a place to play soccer and we got the venue, so we had this little problem about goals, since we didnt really have any, since we rented the place we had access to them so my friend and his mates got the goals and put them in place, all i did during the competition was play and referee. next thing is that i find out that i am being accused for "damaging" the floor
apparently some douche bag pulled the goals instead of carrying it, now i and my partner are being forced to pay for it, do i hold responsibility for actions i didn't even do? i didn't even know that the goals were already taken out off the court either. Never touched them. My friend said it was the basketball guys who did it, so.... what do i do? whos fault is it?
Well, the school rented the facility.
And the goals were left at the goal areas even after the whole Soccer event ended.
The basketball game was going to start, and the basketball guys dragged the goal across the floor. [It was a long scratch on the wooden floor, it was quite big]. But see the goals were my partners responsibility because he brought them therem but then again, who told the basketball guys to move the goals? The game didn't even start till 20 minutes after. And we're smart enough to know how to handle the goals but apparently the bball guys didnt.

depends. at what point were the floors damaged. during or after your rental period? if you borrowed the goals, you had the responsibility for putting them away - so if you didn't do that and someone else did the damage doing what you were supposed to do...well, you get the picture...
so, unless you have photos of someone else doing the damage or some kind of eyewitness testimony, you need to pay up...
