Hello, did any of you ever go Youth Hostelling (YHA)?
The YHA held an open day at Edwinstowe ( Sherwood Forest ).
I had a look around and I couldn't believe my eyes! Just individual rooms and no dormitories and comfortable lounges. A bit different from when I went hostelling!

Hi, yes about a hundred years ago I went YAing to Bethesda in Wales.
It was cold, bleak and very sparse with two separate dormitories, bunk beds, and the coarsest of wool blankets.But oh what fun we had. The walks were long and tiring and had to be seen to be believed.
Back at the hostel we all mucked in together to cook a random meal normally something thrown into a pot, I never knew what went in it but it did taste good.
Later on we all had a sing song along with someone playing a harmonica and a guitar before lights out. Great fun.

No - I have not since I dont backpack anymore but it does sound inviting. The wife & I have taken a photo excursion with Elder Hostel which started in St. George, Utah at their Dixie College site. We spent a week with other SCs doing photo shoots at Zion, Bryce Canyon and the North rim of the Grand Canyon. We had 2 younger professional outdoor photographers as our advisor/mentors and an excellent opportunity to take some remarkable sunrises & sunsets and other shots for show & tell.
