What do you guys think about George Lazenby's physical apperance as James Bond?
He said that he attributed his success in landing the role to his attractiveness to the opposite sex, and not to his talent. I don't think he was that attractive then. I think Sean Connery was the best. Pierce Brosnan was the next best Bond, but I never thought Lazenby was attractive. Sor of conceited of him to brag that he thinks he's so good looking. I liked that movie, sad at the end when Diana Rig got killed my favorite Bond was David Niven, lost interest when Roger Moore took over. David Niven was actually who Ian Fleming had in mind for the role, but he was only the author not the movie producer,Fleming despised pretty boys.

Prior to being hired to play James Bond, George Lazenby was the highest paid male model in Europe. That's quite a credential! In addition, he was the No. 1 male fashion model in the world from 1964 to 1968. By 1968, he had become the highest paid male model in European modeling history.
Yes, he is a very confident man. Per IMDb: His agent told him that he should apply for Bond since, in her opinion, his arrogance would surely win him the role
I think you are especially judging his appearance by today's standards, which are quite different than that time period. He's a strikingly handsome man with a wider appeal than what we have become accustomed to; that's why, in part, Daniel Craig was such a tremendous failure. Think of the shift downward, from Brosnan to Craig. Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan are "cut from the same cloth" when it comes to that international spy look.
By the way, Lazenby's main reason for not continuing in the role was that he felt the Bond series would fall out of fashion in the Seventies.
Check out his page at IMDb, and you will see that he certainly had the physicality to be Bond, as this Aussie actor was quite a sportsman/athlete, including martial arts (black belt in karate), skiing, off-road dirt bike racing, and stock car racing.
Quelle(n): http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0493872/bio Yes, I am a Lazenby fan! I recall being uncertain when I went to the theater that I would enjoy a change in Bonds. But, he won over many of us when he spoke to the camera/audience: "This never happened to the other fellow." Everyone "LOL'd"~very loudly and for a long time. It was a great icebreaker.
