Your favourite baby food recipes?

I love making my daughter's baby food but am getting stuck with recipe ideas

This is one of my daughters favourites - she loves it and always eats the whole portion :)

30g butter

1 leek - sliced

1 celery stick - sliced

1 red pepper -cored, deseeded and chopped

60g Red Lentils

1 medium carrot - peeled and chopped

2 sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped

1 bay leaf

15 fl oz veg stock or boiled water

Sauté leaks in butter for 2-3 minutes, add celery, red pepper, carrot and sauté for 5 minutes

add lentils and sauté for 1 minute. Add sweet pot, bay leaf and stock, bring to boil, reduce heat cover and simmer for 30 minutes/until veg and lentils ore tender. Remove bay leaf, puree/mash to required texture. Freezes well so worth making a batch.

Do you have any good recipe ideas to try?

In a covered pot, and using no salt or spices, combine:

    1 cup water

    1 chicken breast

    1/4 cup rice

    Simmer 20 minutes and add:

    3 whole carrots

    1/4 pound green beans

    Simmer 10 minutes longer.

    For Babies 6-12 months

Blend or process the meat with enough of the cooking broth to make it moist. Mash the carrots and then the beans Store separately in individual servings in the freezer sealed in plastic sandwich bags, or in a plastic ice-cube tray, which must be bagged and tied. Defrost a meal at breakfast, so it's ready to heat for lunch. As your child gets a few months older and can chew better, you can grate these ingredients instead of blending them and you can use your leftovers, too.

For 8 to12 month-olds or omit raisins for younger children

In microwave oven, cook sweet potato at 100 % for 5 minutes, or longer if it is very big. Prick the skin before cooking. Carefully remove the meat of the potato. In a bowl, mix in the carrot and yogurt, then the egg; blend until smooth. Add the raisins and nutmeg sprinkle if you are using them. If the mixture appears dry, add another tablespoon yogurt. Cook at 100 percent, uncovered, for 2 minutes. Stir, cook 1 1/2 minutes more. Let rest 2 to 3 minutes. This tastes best if served as soon as it cools. Serve with a dollop of cold yogurt.

I make all of my daughters food. I don't follow a recipe because you don't really add anything else to the food. She is 10 months now and I have been making all of her food since she's started on solids at 6 months. She still gets the boxed rice cereal but all of her veggies and fruits I have made. I just get fresh veggies or fruits, cut them up (to a size where they can fit into a mini chopper), and then boil them until they are soft. We just got a $5 mini chopper from Wal-mart one year as a christmas present and that is what I've been using. Some veggies you have to add some water to so they can puree better but other have enough water/juice in them that they puree up really nice. As the time goes on I make her food a little chunkier everytime and she has done great. I just make sure to give it a week in between each food in case of allergies. Storage wise, I just put the food into ice cube trays and freeze it. Pop a few cubes out, put it in the microwave and your good to go. She's been through pretty much all the veggies and fruits so now I walk down the baby isle to get my "ideas" of what to mix together. Last week I made Pears and Blueberries mixed together. Hope this helps! I work full time and go to school part time, so this isn't just for SAHM's! Anybody can make their babies food! It just take an extra 20 min to give your baby the freshest thing possible and save money!
