I'm not sure if its a song by Josh Thompson... but the rythm could be similar to the song "beer on the tables"... 

All I remember is the singer sings kinda funny/sad and then he always goes "ah-hoo-hoo" in the refrain.

Any ideas which song that could be? And who sings it?
