When will I be able to buy a 10000 core CPU?

Come on, I know 100 core cpus exist, I know 1000 core cpus exist. You can't fool me.

getting to that point would be a waste more likely we would have processors with faster speeds or figure out quantum processing or a chemical computer long before it would get to 1000 cores.

I believe the most cores available right now are 12 from special Intel chips.  But the more important question is why would you need so many cores when most games/programs don't even use much more than 3?

of course, they do but not for the commercial market. But at the rate technology is improving I would say to i would give it around 10 years and then you will have that in your CPU.

if you beowulf cluster 1250 quad core i7 hyper-threaded computers you would have 10000 cores!!!
