I just got infected by this weird virus...?
A day or two ago, I've started hearing these "Congratulations, you've won," advertisements, and even the browser clicking noise. I don't know how this happened because I've been surfing through websites that don't normally give you viruses and I've been surfing for months now. It really gets under my skin because I hate viruses and I really care about my computer.
A couple of questions:
Is this virus safe or will it worsen?
How can I remove it?
Would a previous restore point take care of this?
Thank you very much in advance!

It will get worse.
You can remove it.
I'll tell you.
Probably not.
The key words here are SAFE MODE!!!
Download, (if you can't get on-line, have a friend download and copy to disc/flash for transfer) install, update and run full scans, in SAFE MODE*, with these programs...
http://www.superantispyware.com/
http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=Ad... Ad-Aware free
*** Important, when downloaded/installed/updated disconnect from the internet ***
Then re-start.
If you can't run a scan, go into the scanner's folder and re-name the .exe file to something like 'MyFile.exe' and try in safe mode again. Some malware prevent the execution of anti spy/mal/virus scans by blocking them by name.
You should consider getting a good Anti-Virus program.
Try one of these free ones...
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avira_antivir... (Avria)
***Never use more than one, active, anti-virus program at any one time***
*Note: On start up (before Windows loads) keep tapping either F5 or F8 (be aware that some manufacturers use F8 for system recovery!) then use arrow keys to highlight 'Safe Mode with networking' and hit Enter/Return, click on a user account, enter the Administrator password (if you don't know it, there probably isn't one so leave it blank) and hit Enter/Return.

It may worsen, don't take any risks.
You can remove it by system restore.
It possibly can. I'd say it's worth a shot.
Simply follow these steps for removal:
1) Click on the start menu.
2) Click all programs.
3) Click Accessories.
4) Click System Tools.
5) Click System Restore.
6) Choose the recommended one. Follow the upcoming steps, allow your computer to restart, and scan your computer with your anti-virus software one more time. As far as I'm aware, this should heal it.
