do you think house arrest is a ressonalble option to sitting in a jail cell?

was having a talk the other day and this topic came up the person was really bothered by the fact that some one is sitting at home who committed a crime serious enough to spend time in a jail cell but is not, what do you think thank you

    Hmmm, house arrest. Sitting in your own home, watching TV, relaxing, sounds like real punishment. NOT!

    Jail time is seriously expensive. If the person is not a danger to society, then it is much better to not have a lot of tax dollars go towards imprisoning them and instead punishing them by a very lengthy house arrest.

    oh man, house arrest is a dream job compared to prison/jail. prison is better than county/local jails.

    the problemo amigo is, house arrest usually comes with all kinds of conditions. these conditions can be right out of orwells 1984. in texas we actually have a device where when the phone rings you have to give a breath sample to see if youre drinking. and you have to pay for all these monitoring devices. f it, just lock me up.

    my son in law got 30 days in jail for drunk driving so he oped out and got home dentition instead but he had to pay a extra 400 dollars for it?!!
