looking for both sides pro and con, on 2 for 1 sentencing?

I believe in punishing the criminal and that criminal should serve his or her sentence after they are found guilty. This time served stuff is getting out of control. When we don't insist on criminals serving their full sentence we put the community in harms way. It is nothing for some criminals to go to jail because they know they are only going to get half their time and even less if they behave themselves while in jail. Criminals who commit violent crimes in my opinion should always serve their full sentence. As far as time served it depends on the crime. A violent crime? Scrap it, but for others it may keep the prisons from overcrowding.
