How many ml is 1/2 water?

Hello anyone,

Im trying to make a linen spray, one of the ngredients says 1/2 distilled water and 1/2 witch hazel, and then the rest of the ingredients are in ml or drops. How many ml is 1/2 distilled? im really confused... hope somebody can help me..

It means that, of the total volume, Half is distilled water and Half is Witch hazel.

1.0 litre therefore will be 500mL of distilled water and 500 mL of witch hazel.
For such a mixture, the drops of other substances used, can be added without worrying about the slight extra amount....I don't think perfect accuracy is required.

As I read it, it means the solution you have is 1 part distilled water, 1 part witch hazel, and to this is added the rest of the ingredients in drops or mL.  The thing is, I have no idea of how much you are expected to make.  A pint, a quart, a liter?

You can substitute deionized water for the distilled water.  That is what they usually mean in recipes like you cited anyway.
