If producing legal form of ID is good enough for the American Citizen then what is all the hullabaloo from...?

Obama and all his cronies about?

I'm a legal American citizen and I must show my ID when:

1. Pulled over by the police.

2. Making purchases on my department store credit card.

3. When I show up for a doctor's appointment.

4. When filling out a credit card or loan application.

5. When applying for or renewing a driver's license or passport.

6. When applying for any kind of insurance.

7. When filling out college applications.

8. When donating blood.

9. When obtaining certain prescription drugs.

10. When making some debit purchases, especially

if I'm out of state.

11. When collecting a boarding pass for airline or train travel.

They are complaining if the police ask an illegal for a form of legitimate I.D.?

Update:

In order to obtain a Drivers License in any State in the Union...One must provide the Bureau with a certified copy of Ones Legal Birth Certificate...what planet do you live on...mars.

Driver's licenses do not count as a proof of citizenship.

Two states that border Arizona will give driver's licenses to illegals, three did in recent history.

So, here's the ID you would have to show to prove citizenship:

    Birth certificate (original)

    Passport

Do you carry those with you? Do you show those when making debit purchases? How about when donating blood?

So here's the situation: You are a legal US citizen with a dark complextion and a heavy accent. Police pull you over and suspect you are an illegal immigrant. Ask you to prove your citizenship and you pull out your New Mexico drivers license. This doesn't count so they arrest you. Is that fair?

I thought not. It ain't as easy as you think it is.

EDIT: Utah and New Mexico both grant drivers licenses to illegal immigrants, hence it is not a proof of citizenship.

Want to test it out, go into another country and try getting back into the U.S. with just your drivers license. See how easy that is.

Quelle(n): They also aren't suing on this point. Although the ACLU is...but the Obama administration is arguing that state enforcement conflicts with federal law. And the case record seems to support their contention: Plyler v. Doe and Lozano v. Hazleton.

what are you talking about? im so confused on what the question is. most things you listed require an ID, not sure about the credit/debit, cause i've never seen anyone need ID for it, or college aps, but a good chunk of the rest are always required. the pulling over by police, trying to get credit card (thats really good, reduces identity theft issue), insurance, drugs, license and passport, and ALWAYS needed for airport stuff

Exactly! It is just another way to use the race card to try and get away with something wrong.

The problem is not that they are being asked for their ID. The problem is that AZ wrote a law that conflicts with Federal Law giving the US gov control over immigration, not the states. Also racial profiling has something to do with it, but that is speculative.
