Does god really answer our prayers?

Question

Preachers always say this and often even put it on their marquees.  But this is hard to believe.  There were a lot of prayers that were said to stop the leakage of oil from the wild well in the Gulf of Mexico, but so far he hasn't responded.  Many people have lost their livelihoods because of the spill.  This is just one example but there are many others.  In fact I have never heard of him actually answering a prayer except in those cases where good results have come about by coincidence.

OK ... in 1983 I twisted my knee almost 180 degrees when it got stuck as I was running and I ended up with 8 bone-chips and the doc x-rayed and verified them but wanted to wait for 2 weeks to do the operation when the swelling was down.  I prayed over it and even mentally went into my knee as I was going to sleep and I would mentally remove the bone-chips and pray over them.  Two weeks later the doc x-rayed it again and came out with a blank look on his face ... the bone-chips were gone.  
In 1988 I was run over by a car while mtn biking home and my anterior(sic?) cruciate was severed and a new doc (my old one died) said he would have to remove cartilage from my forearm and put it into my knee to repair it.  I prayed like mad for 3 months and while watching TV one night with my leg elevated and swollen the size of a football,  I think it was Oral Roberts who came on and before he started his show he said that he was told to pray for someone with a severed cruciate, fractured knee cap, and described my knee totally so I looked up and told God I was up for it if He was and my knee got SUPER HOT and the next morning the swelling was gone and I could put my full weight on it for the 1st time in 3 months.  I mtn biked to the top of Mt Toro (2200 feet) and then my friend Randy and I went to Dodge Ridge and skied all the double diamonds.  My doc said that my knee should have come off but it was fine.  Every doc since then has noticed the lump at the front of my knee from where God healed it.  
1992 I had a swollen vocal cord nodule that was about to turn cancerous.  I prayed over it and ended up driving 200 miles to see a friend but he was detoured and I ran into a guy who was coming back from vacation in Taos and heading to Washington State, we met in a parking lot at Pirates Cove and he told me not to have the operation and to drink alternate hot and cold drinks.  He turned out to be a voice coach and his advice worked 100% and my voice nodule disappeared by the time the doc was able to check it out.
I needed help a few months ago and went out back one night and yelled up at the stars and 3 days later SSDi called and then sent me a huge chunk of money to help me out with my expenses and a monthly payment.
News Flash!  The corporations are going to keep the Gulf Oil Spill OPEN until they achieve their desired result.  I have theories but you normally poo-poo them so I won't waste my time.  But I will say that there are many levels of evil working on several levels to undermine our ascendancy and journey into the Aquarian Age and the 5th dimension.
It's not easy to have God answer ones prayers.  One needs to DEMAND tht God listen and there are rules to follow and certain key words to make things work.  I've included links below to answer your questions.

My mom had a saying, pray hard for 1 min work hard for 1 day.
I myself do not bother praying, hard work is the key.
Many people are working hard to stop the leak and they will. No god needed.

Does Jehovah really answer prayers? Yes, indeed! We have a firm basis to be confident that the “Hearer of prayer” answers sincere prayers offered by millions of humans. (Psalm 65:2) Jehovah’s answer to our prayers may come in a variety of ways:

1.  Jehovah uses his angels and his earthly servants to answer prayers. (Hebrews 1:13, 14) 
2.  To answer our prayers offered in a time of real need, Jehovah may motivate a Christian to come   to our aid.—Proverbs 12:25; James 2:16.
3.  Jehovah God also uses his holy spirit and his Word, the Bible, to answer the prayers of his servants. He may answer our prayers for help to cope with trials by giving us guidance and strength by means of his holy spirit. (2 Corinthians 4:7) Often the answer to our prayers for direction comes from the Bible, where Jehovah gives us help in making wise decisions. 

If Jehovah seems to delay in answering our prayers, this is never because he is not able to answer them. Rather, we must remember that Jehovah answers prayers according to his will and in his due time. He knows our needs and how to care for them far better than we do. Often he allows us to ‘keep on asking, seeking, and knocking.’ (Luke 11:5-10) Such perseverance shows God that our desire is very deep and that our faith is genuine. Furthermore, Jehovah may answer our prayers in a way that is not obvious to us. For example, he may answer our prayer regarding a particular trial, not by removing the difficulty, but by giving us the strength to endure it.—Philippians 4:13.

yes God really does answer prayers.
 There are plenty of miracles to be found especially in the catholic faith- look them up.God does require our efforts too however.
