Father(-in-law) allowed to stay in the US?
My husband is an officer in the US Army, and I am German living in the US with a Green Card. My father has health issues and needs someone to take care of him. Is it possible to get him some way to stay with us, if we can proove that we are able to pay for his living?
I just got my Green Card, when will I get US Citizen Status? The full status I mean?
@ David, I know what I can afford and what not. It is not just Army pay, I have a well-paying job here as well.
He wouldn't have to be stationed in a hospital, but he needs someone to look after him, which would be his only daughter - me. And since I have family here, I cannot just easily give up my life here and take my kids back to Germany with me.

Once you are a US citizen you can petition him. Your husband cannot petition him. Sorry.

Look at the date on your very first green card. Go forward from that date 2 yrs and 9 months. That is the earliest you can apply for citizenship. Depending on where you live, after you apply it could take as little as a few months to a yr or more.

With the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) you dad is allowed to stay in the United States for 90 days. With a doctor's certificate (letter) you can petition the USCIS to allow your dad to stay longer for medical treatment.
