What type of files run on ePSXe?

All other explanations don't make sense to me so i was thinking someone here could sum it up for me, what files work on it. .exe, etc, what is the extension. Also to run a rom do you put ISO?

In ePSXe, under File, you will see your options of ways to play Playstation games inside of the emulator. I'll try and break these options down as best as I can...

"Run CDROM" basically allows you to play your game directly off of your PSX CD (just put your game CD into your computer's CD/DVD drive and run this option to directly play the game that way).

"Run ISO" allows you to to play any created images of games that are on your computer's hard drive. In ePSXe v. 1.7.0 (the version I have - and still the current latest version), you are allowed to play ISOs of games if they are in any of these formats... .BIN, .ISO, .IMG, .CUE., .CCD, .MDS. These game images are usually created in an image making program, like Alcohol 120%. Normally, if you download a Playstation game online, it is usually in one of those listed formats.

"Run PS-EXE" myself I have never used (I usually use created images of games). Upon clicking and opening, it says that it can either run .ZIP or .EXE. I am guessing that you can just run ISOs and other images straight from their ZIP files, or (if know some code) can make an EXE of the game and just run it off of your hard drive that way.

If you select "Run BIOS", you can simply run the Playstation BIOS (basically if don't have any CD in your Playstation - it's that blue (on the original Playstation) or gray (on the PS1) screen that gives the options of "Memory Card" or "CD Player"). If you are using the BIOS that I am using (scph1001), it will go to the blue BIOS screen.

To answer your second question, yes if you have an existing rom on your computer, you would most likely go to the "Run ISO" option. Do you know the file format that your rom is in? As I said, it would have to be any of these in order to work in ePSXe... .BIN, .ISO, .IMG, .CUE., .CCD, or .MDS.

    Hope this helps you out!
