If atheism isn't a religion then why do they have churches and ordained ministers?

Okay, well it looks like the First Church of Atheism's only function is to ordain ministers in order to perform weddings, etc. The Rational Responders is a meeting place for atheist activists. Neither function as a real church, and neither could be considered a religious meeting place.

It is only a religion when it serves the atheists purpose.

Federal Govt: Atheism is a faith group, protected by title ten which covers what? Religion and subject to tax funded religious support.

Prison system: Religion.

Hey don't blame me. Our secular tax dollars at work.

Wait one though. It will cease to be a religion as soon as someone chimes ups and says so. Only certain persecuted parties get to dictate terms and the meaning of words and laws but hey, what do judges know about arguments?

Which pretty much goes back to my theory. Any group of people that share a common bond or association by virtue of their common stance on a religious point is a religion. Atheism is certainly that. They are more united on religious principles than the church!

Atheism is as much of a religion as blindness is a sense. As in, it's not.

It's not really a "church." It's just a forum. A little atheist's club. It's not an atheist ritual or requirement, since atheism has none.

The First Church of Atheism makes their position pretty clear on the "about" page--guess you didn't read that part in your rush to bear false witness.

I don't know any atheist who goes to church, I don't, so my guess is a prank or sarcasm.
