This would be same as if we had trouble with our food supply and saying we need to suspend raising food.

Suspend new permits until every rig is checked for safety, top to bottom. Look at alternative sources of energy. In the end, drilling rigs are in the coastal areas every day, just check them. Maybe BP was a wake up call.

Except food isn't going to run out in 20-50 years.

Oil is going as a fuel source whether people like it or not. Might as well get used to it, stop the drilling and save what's left of the marine environment.
