Why don't searches list questions by newness?
When the format of Y!A first changed, and I did a search of questions, the most recently asked questions showed up on page one, with older questions coming after that. After a couple weeks of that, it went back to the old format of questions being listed randomly (or, if there is a logic to the listing, I've yet to figure it out). Any chance that function will come back, and if not, why? It was hugely helpful.
For those suggesting a click "newest"...that option is not available when doing a search. I'm talking about typing words into the search bar near the top of the page and hitting "Search answers" or hitting "My saved search" and doing the same. The results have no "newest" filter that I can find.
@Barkley Hound: I've tried your suggestion, and it doesn't change the listing of results.

I have never seen it in a logical sequence.
Try the following. Do a normal search. Add &s=date after the resulting URL and press enter. It should redisplay with the newest first.

Try this:When you are in the category just below "Questions in Yahoo Answers" you will see "Open"below that word Sort by and to the right of that "oldest" Click on oldest it should change to newest and away you go.

The idea of the search bar is to provide information -- thus showing resolved questions so you can find the answer you are looking for. If they showed new questions, people wouldn't use the search bar.
It may change, but it may not. Don't hold your breath.

yes, look for' sort by 'above the list of questions .next to it ,it probably says oldest, press it and it will change to newest. if it keeps change back, repeat and eventually the glitch will sort it self out.
