Why don't they have male cheer leaders to break away form the usual. Perhaps cricket can start this trend?
It would be interesting to read what form of abuse would be used on them - I am so sick of the female CLs being referred to as "hoes"
A lot of women go to the cricket these days around the world so it really is not a male dominated sport - I am very interested in the replies so far and await some more - in the meantime it is over and out for awhile. Let's hope it is a good game tonight.

I fully agree!
Sometime back I had asked a similar question, but, I felt that I did not get satisfactory replies!
My point of view is that ladies can excel in sports, so why should they cheer for the males....kind of degrading..I mean in that context!
However, ladies can do a fine job by dancing in shows...but its primitive (in my opinion) that they should disport themselves in this manner for a male team!
EDIT: By the way, maam, the word "hoe" here does not necessarily have a negative meaning here in US..it depends on who is using it and in what context and situation....I hope you get my point...It could mean a superlatively attractive lady :)...........

1. Its all about "eye candy" these days. Its not that about whether male cheerleaders are discriminated against and not given opportunities but its about what the majority of crowd wants. We all know that men are more visual than women. In that sense, men wants to see women performing infront of them. On the other hand, women are indifferent and don't particularly vouch for male cheerleaders either. Hence, male cheerleaders are just not suitable. Do you ever see male cheerleaders in Basketball, Rugby or any other sport for the like? 2. To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't want male cheerleaders. Being a guy, I certainly have no nothing to gain. So, its a resounding "No".

Because:
1. Majority of the spectators are men. They wouldn't like men there.
2. This is one of the things in which women are far better than men.
No one but d!ckheads who can't appreciate beauty calls them 'hoes'

It is simple really, Men (Scots in kilts notwithstanding) do not like jumping around in short skirts with fluffy balls! That goes for waving their batons about, too!
