Kindle book prices from amazon?
Ok, so when I bought my kindle, I bought it on the advertising promise by kindle that I would pau JUST $9.99 per book, even for NYT best sellers. Now they are charging upwards of $14.99 for new releases. Does anyone know why they upped their prices after promising not to charge more than $9.99/book?

Apple pretty much screwed over the e-book market. They offered to let publishers set their own prices. All the publishers then used that wedge against Amazon in negotiations. So Amazon had the choice of letting the publishers set their own prices or not having the books in their stores at all and Amazon elected to let the publishers set their own prices and at least have the books offered to the rest of us. For the NYT best sellers that are NOT controlled by one of these publishers, Amazon is keeping the pricing low, but they can not keep the price low on the books that are controlled by these publishers. You also have to pay sales tax on some books now if the publishing house has a presence in your state incidently.
