red and black wire to 3.5 mm jack?>?
i have a little cheap toy speaker that is about .5 watts.. I would like to know if i could wire the ends to a a 3.5 mm jack so I could use the speaker with my mp3 or something. step by step would be great thanks....
oh i under stand that...i just wanted to see if it would work...

You won't get much volume from speakers connected to your mp3 player. These devices are designed to power headphones, not speakers. Speakers take more power and to drive them would require bigger batteries. You need amplifier or powered speakers like computer speakers. Your 1/2 watt toy speaker will lack decent sound capacity as well. The audio will be weak and sound terrible.

You can buy a 3.5 mm to stereo RCA cable.
Cut one RCA connector and connect the two wires to the speaker. You will get MONO and pretty bad audio quality...
You may add a stereo-to mono adaptor, then connect its output to your speaker.
For less than $10 you can probably buy small - passive stereo PC speakers that will work better
