Side effects of medicine Concerta?

Question

I take the medicine Concerta to help me concentrate, I have tried others but they make me feel a substantial amount of drowsiness and slight depressive feelings, like I don't want to do anything.

I'm taking Concerta and it works fine, but lately I have been taking it and it is starting to put me into an extremely irritable mood... Everything anybody or anything does REALLY gets on my nerves...

What is causing this? I went off the meds for about 3 days and I was perfectly fine, happy and always joking... but now on it again its just dull and annoying... And I can't even think of a joke or be funny at all... And I'm not exactly sure why. 

Can somebody tell me if this is because of chemicals in my brain making an imbalance because of the medicine? Or what exactly is it?
