How do you say "shadow" in Russian with English (Roman) pronunciation?
I am writing a book but have stumbled on a few technical difficulties. I need the word "Shadow" in Russian, but in English (Roman) pronunciation. My searches have just given me the literal Russian word, but I don't know how to say it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is everything you need: how to write and how to say. The word (тень) is pronounced by a native speaker (and I would pronounce it exactly the same way): http://www.forvo.com/word/%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%8C...

What? Totally different structures of their vocal organs? That's amazingly untrue. English speakers can eventually learn how to speak Russian without the slightest accent and vice versa. If you know the IPA*, Russian will be a lot easier to pick up phonologically. *International Phonetic Alphabet

The above answer is almost correct. It is somewhat like "ten", however both 't' and 'n' are very soft. There really isn't an equivalent soft 't' or 'n' in English, the *first* n in onion is about half as soft as 'н' in "тень". Both consonants are softened by flattening the front part of the tongue against the part of the roof of your mouth that is right behind the teeth, also known as hard palate.
