I would like to think so, but based on Anthony Kennedy's rulings of late (Kennedy would be the swing vote), states' righters may end up disappointed.

This is Ted Kennedy's (no relation) lasting legacy after his life; this could have been a conservative if not for bad timing.

Iris154: Yes the goal was to give away so much to so many regardless of the cost that an entire population will soon be the voting slaves of the Democrat party. Generating ever more poverty and misery, while holding out the bare necessities to the masses who can no longer expect to rise to their fullest potential. And to think that this will be administered by a government that does not even answer the phone, deliver mail on time, cannot get a social security check into direct deposit correctly, overpays for every purchase, fails to meet every budget, operates a shamefully underfunded and incompetent VA hospital system, and you can bet that Congress exempted itself from almost every portion of this bill, same as they do not have to pay for Medicare or Social Security..

I already cannot find a doctor who will honor my Medicare, after the reductions in Medicare reimbursements many of us will have the best, cheapest and most broadly available medical coverage accepted noplace.

Already a medicaid or medicare card is only marginally more valuable than confederate money.

Answer: The Supreme court will eventually rule that interstate commerce is involved,l therefore, the federal government can make any draconian law it wants, despite the fact that that provision was intended to prevent state "Borders" and state import tarrifs.

Nowhere in our Constitution does it say the federal government can force the citizens to buy anything so the courts could, in theory, throw this bill out. Either way the Democrats will take a major hit politically in November.

There is little if anything I believe the Supreme Court can or will do.

What there is though, are the 33 States that either have or are processing Legislation, to be "exempt" from this nightmare.

Long, long ago States slowly let the Feds take more and more powers from them, but they are still THERE.

Our hope now must rest with these States, because Obama will show "more" of his true colors of a socialist, when he tries to deal with this MAJOR compromise to his "controllers" plans.

Once this bill goes into effect:

    - Uninsured people with medical problems will have an immediate workable alternative that will save lives and alleviate suffering.

    - Seniors will get rebates on their prescriptions.

    - The plan also improves preventive benefits for seniors in traditional Medicare.

    - It makes Medicare stronger and more solvent, extending its life by almost a decade.

    - Medicaid will be expanded to cover childless adults living near poverty, bringing the total who'd gain coverage to more than 30 million.

    - Small employers will get tax credits providing coverage.

    - Primary care doctors and general surgeons practicing in under-served areas such as inner cities and rural communities would get a 10 percent bonus from Medicare.

    - Health insurance companies will face unprecedented federal regulation and particularly close scrutiny of their bottom line. A fixed percentage of income from premiums would have to go to medical care.

    - Insurers won’t be able to deny coverage if you get sick. This will dramatically lower the threat of bankruptcy from medical for ALL of us.

    - No insurance company can limit the amount of coverage you get in a lifetime.

    - Children will be able to stay on their parents' coverage until age 26.

    - Nobody with a pre-existing condition can be refused.

    - In 2014 about 30 million people will buy coverage through state exchanges, and nearly 6 in 10 will be eligible for help with their premiums.

    - This bill will reduce our deficit by more than $100 Billion over the next decade and more than $1 Trillion in the decade after that.

When Republicans try to take this away from everyone (including the insurance companies and big pharma who are both profiting handsomely from this) it will be political suicide for the GOP.
