tire size for my chrysler concorde?

The door post recommends 225/60/16 tires, I want to put on 235/70/16. Will they fit the car and be ok for hwy driving?. I cannot find a web site that will tell me. Tires.com said it WAS an option tho.

Update:

i got them at a rummage sale, the service station said they thot they would not fit, but i think they wanted to sell me new tires.

    I assume you want to change size because the "70s" series tires are much cheaper? This size will work just fine on your car even though they will be a bit taller. However be sure that the speed rating on tire is the same ie HR VR or ZR ask your tire dealer about these ratings. For safety it is important to match this rating with your cars capabilities.

    just FYI, changing the tire size from the original tire size will effect the speedometer reading while driving.

    Why the different size? The new ones are so close to the original size?

    I'm sure it will be fine, I have 16" wheels on my car and it came with 14' wheels
