I need makeup that lasts 18 hours.....impossible?
So I work about 50 hours a week on top of being a full time student, so I average anywhere from 16-18 hours a day or more and usually after about hour 12 or so my make up just isn't really cutting it anymore. It's not bad, it's just not really good either (and the cute guy shows up during my last hour when I'm at my worst). I do get slightly oily but a couple of blotting sheets and I'm good to go so I don't think that's the problem. Also, just re-washing my face and reapplying really isn't possible, I go straight from school to work with barely enough time to eat.
Currently I'm using Smashbox primer which seems to be helping but I really need a makeup with some staying power. I'm using Lancome foundation and Lorac powder. I was using Lorac foundation but I noticed the color just wasn't quite right. I *HATE* that caked on, dear-god-is-that-a-mask type of makeup, so super heavy is out BUT I do have some acne scarring so it needs to have decent coverage. And of course, you can assume I am somewhat prone to break outs although it's really not to bad.
Any suggestions for a good brand that will last through the day and won't destroy my skin? Not too concerned with price, obviously I don't want to pay $100 for something but I don't mind paying a little extra for good quality. Anything I can get from Sephora or Macy's is a huge plus (I like to try before I buy).

An excellent foundation to try is Estee Lauder Maximum Cover. This is a super light weight, high pigment foundation that stays put all day long - until you wash your face. If you go to Macy’s, you can test the various colors before buying. It costs around $28 and comes packaged in a slender navy blue tube. This formula is so high pigment that a tiny pea-sized drop will cover your entire face & hide any imperfection in its tracks. If you prefer a “tinted moisturizer” look, just mix an equal amount of your usual moisturizer with the foundation to achieve a barely there finish. I’ve tried hundreds of drug store and department store foundations, and none even come close to lasting as long & providing as much natural looking coverage as this one. It’s even water resistant, making it a great choice for humid weather & summer wear. The best way to apply, for the most even coverage, is with your fingertips. Using a foundation brush with this item is a waste of product, because the formula tends to dry quickly and soak into the brush. Instead, apply in sections and blend quickly with fingertips, whisking downward and outward toward your hair line.
Another trick to longer wearing makeup on slightly oily skin is to use a powder primer before foundation application. I noticed you said you’ve been using Smashbox Photo Finish – but that one is better suited toward dry skin. The silicones in the Smashbox formula don’t mesh well with skin oils, and can actually cause foundation to streak and smudge worse than it would without any primer. Also, silicones are bad for the skin in general. With continued use, silicones block pores, preventing them from getting oxygen – which can lead to blackheads and breakouts. A good powder primer to try is called Mattify! Oil Absorbing Loose Powder (www.mattifycosmetics.com for about $8). This is a clear powder that multi-tasks. You can apply it before foundation so that makeup lasts longer and pores are minimized, then apply again over your foundation as a setting powder for even longer wear and to give you a perfect, air-brushed finish. The Kaolin Clay in the product soaks up oil so that it won’t disturb your foundation, and the clay also absorbs impurities from your pores throughout the day so they won’t get blocked. You can apply it with a powder brush – just swirl the brush in circular motions to buff the Mattify Powder into your skin. This is a much better option than a colored powder because it disappears into your skin and doesn’t cause a cakey heavy look.
Finally, after you’ve completely finished applying makeup & are about to leave the house, set your look with a makeup setting spray. The best one I’ve found is called Model in a Bottle (www.modelinabottle.com for about $18). Just a few mists of this wonder formula, and ALL of your makeup stays in place for the whole day. If you’re going to be exercising and sweating a lot, or swimming, just blot the moisture from your face with a towel (don’t rub) to prevent any smudges. The Model in a Bottle will just re-set itself and your makeup will stay put even after swimming. They make a regular formula, and one for sensitive skin. Personally, I use the regular formula. I have skin that is prone to breakouts, but the regular formula doesn't irritate it at all, - the regular spray is pretty gentle.
If you use these three products, I’m guessing that your makeup will finally out last your day! I searched for YEARS for items that would stay put on my oily skin & not wear off by the end of a 14 hour day. This has been my routine for about 8 months now, and I haven’t been disappointed yet. Hope these tips help you out!

Well Almay has a great foundation called TLC (Truly Lasting Color) with SPF and it says it lasts for up to 16 hours...I had this last year but I've moved onto a tinted moisturizer ( I'm going more natural), and I dont know if it lasts 16 hours because I washed it off within 6-7 hours but I think it would last about 14-16 hours.. it has great staying power and I didnt notice any breakouts from it. It doesnt feel like a mask (I HATE that feeling and look also) and as far as I know it doesnt look mask-like either. It costs around $12 in drugstores but when I had it I definitely thought it was worth it! To be safe, you can get some from walmart and if it doesnt work out for you, you can return it..I really hope this helped you out and good luck!!! ;D

I think what you really need is a good concealer or cover-up, then you can touch up your powder when necessary. I have no problem keeping my makeup on all day, and I am currently using:
1. Bioderma Sensibio AR Lotion
2. Urban Decay Complexion Brightening Primer Potion
3. Vasanti Liquid Cover-Up just on blemishes, under eyes, and on mild rosacea
4. MAC Mineralize Loose Powder Foundation
5. MAC Fix+
This lasts from when I put on my makeup at 6:00 a.m. until I go to bed at 11:30 p.m. The Vasanti Liquid cover up is amazing, it's my new holy grail concealer...

Try bodyhop, caudalie or yves rocher products. Absolutely safe for such long hours. They have some tinted moisturises that act as a good foundation. Use Revlon Touch n Glow if available or any revlon compact that matches your skin tone. This is simple and can be used for long hours rather than heavy foundation and other make-up. Foundation does not let your skin breathe hence those skin eruptions. If you have acne, use some clindamycin or erythromycin under your moisturiser till they are gone. Good luck.

You really need to read "Rosacea Free Forever" by Laura Taylor (also available in electronic format here: http://www.rosaceafreeforever.info/ ). It's about how to permanently cure your Rosacea naturally. I cured my Rosacea permanently in only 4 days after reading this.
Stop paying paying each month good money on creams. This is exactly what the pharmaceutical industry wants you to do! They want to milk money from you each month.

Lol, good question. From my experience, that promise is a flat out lie. But what it means is that it will most likely be faded out by 18 hours or will start to fade after 18 hours.

The person that recommended Maybelline Super Stay makeup... No. I use it and it lasts about 4 hours.. 5 hours tops. It may make you break out, too. Definitely don't buy.
Quelle(n): I own it. I've used it and hate it. I'm looking for a better makeup as well. - vor 1 Jahrzehnt
