I need help positioning a painting for a photograph.?
I know this is a little weird, but I painted something a few years back and I wanted to take a picture of it to upload it to my computer. The only problem is that my art teacher required all paintings to be laminated, and I can't position it right for the camera without a glare... How do I get rid of the glare without making it too dark for the camera?

The general lighting of sunlight or other source is good, but then you face reflections of your equipment. The general answer is side lighting and a black cloth to poke your lens through. I bought a black single sheet at Walmart for $3-4 for the purpose.

copy 101 class
Two lights at 45 degrees, same light type and size *love digital as it will color correct with a white card*
Light the painting so the center of each light is on the FAR side of the painting.
Pol. filter on camera and if you need it one each in front of the lights.. use a level on the painting and the camera... making it parallel to the painting will take some time so take the time and use a very good tripod. OR pay a very good photographer to do it for you.. before you agree you should look at the copy set up they have and if it looks rinki dink you should move on.

If you have an SLR, you can get a polarizing filter for the lens. This will cut down the glare considerably.
