Does God answer prayers?
Pastors always say that God answers prayers. But all kinds of people are praying for certain things and their prayers are never answered. Thousands of people in a small midwestern town prayed that an oncoming tornado would spare them, but it didn't. Many more pray for an end to an illness. Still others pray for victory in a football game (even though both sides are praying for the same thing) So where is God when these prayers are never answered?

I lost three fingers in a logging accident 7 years ago. I always hear about God healing people with terminal cancer and the like, but I have been praying for 7 years for God to regrow my fingers...people still call me Stumpy.
Seems some healing are not within the power of the Supreme Being....which kind of makes it an Inferior Being really.

God is sitting idly by with a glass of lemonade while placebos are at work - the placebo in this situation is prayer. If a person believes they will recover from a deadly illness by praying, and has millions of people praying for them, then they are perfectly likely to recover because they believe that the power of God is healing them. Prayer is a placebo and nothing more, I think. Happenstance also comes into play. It's a mystery to me why happenstance implies the existence of a God in the eyes of a Christian.

People have to understand that NOT all prayers are answered. It is up to God's will for these prayers to be answered. I don't think God answers that many prayers for football games, because not too many times will God use football for His glory (although, I sure He's done it a few times). Maybe the illness is how the person is supposed to die??? God is always here with us. He always hears our prayers, but when we pray we have to keep in mind that God has a plan for everything and that no matter what, it is up to God, not us as to how our lives are written.

please read the whole thing
In the bible it says, "the prayers of a righteous man are answered." God is alwas with you. so many people today pray for a new car of a bigger house or money for a 2 month vacation to the bahamas. God is not a genie and will not give anyone anything they want. God provides what you NEED all the time and what you want some of the time. as for the football game that is under the not a genie category but the other to points ae valid. When god says the prayers will be answered that means yes OR no. In the midwestern city situation God did not choose to save them for some unknown reason however good WILL come out of it. your thinking this guy is crazy he says good will come out of death and despair but lets put it in an analogy. You come to me and say give me food. I reply and say ok how about some salt. you say no . next i say how about baking soda? you reply no. next i say well what about some oil or flour. you say no. then i say how about some raw eggs. you again say no. I keep on presenting items like this. you keep saying no. now if I put all those things together i would make biscuits. and everyone knows biscuits are good however how do you get them? by combining bad things together. however just all the bad things will make the dough and that does not taste good. you need the oven to make the dough a biscuit. in this analogy the oven represents a RELATIONSHIP with God. and another thing is my friend presently lost his grandfather and do you know what he said? he told me the while time he was praying for healing and now he knows what healing is. He told me that on earth you can get sick hungry, hurt, sad, lonely, depressed, and other things but when God takes you to heaven you no longer have to suffer you are healed in a way that you will never be sick, hungry, thirsty, deposedd, sad or injured again. all we can do on earth is patchwork, you tear you ACL they replace it but you never are able to have full mobility again. in heaven you are COMPLETELY healed. my friend is not sad he lost his grandfather, who was dear to him, instead he is joyful (no inheritance included) because his grandfather is COMEPLETELY healed. sorry it was so long but i hope i helped.

God will always answer prayers according to His will. He knows what people need and don't need. The Bible says that rain falls on the godly too. God never promises Christians would not be ridiculed, tormented, or go through hard times on this earth. In fact, He says the opposite. We are all God's creations and God loves us equally, but He gives us His word, and His help in order for us to be able to deal with problems. How strong is our faith in God, if we are broken so easily like non-believers? We will only have to deal with the evil in this world for a short time, before spending eternity with the God of goodness, hope, truth, and life.

Pray to god for ten different things and see how many of those prayers are answered - THEN - pray to R2D2 for ten things and see how many of those prayers are answered. It will probably be around the same.
When christians pray every night they ask for hundreds of things and when two of these prayers are "answered" they use that as proof that God is real and they ignore all the things that didn't happen, or they say that it was God's will.
If God is going to do what he wants anyway because it's his will then why pray at all?

Oh Troy, you fiendish pot stirrer!!! You and I don't pray to any God's, and our lives are just as good as those who do, so as far as we know, God does not answer prayers. However, I have no objection with those who do pray. Personal free will, so long as it isn't at the expense of someone else's free will should be a right of all people.
Cheers!

look ofcourse God answers prayers, the bible says where two or three are gathered he is there, just because u pray for something doesnt mean it aint gonna happen, sometimes u have to patients and other time God wont answer them, but ur not God theres not point in judging him, God doesnt have to do anything for us he doesnt owe us anything, he could wipe us out anytime but he gracious and merciful if he hasnt answered ur prayer mebe u should consider what u have already, that ur alive and breathing and healthy when u could be much worse off in the case of healing, God works in miricles, so u just have to keep hoping and if he doesnt answer then its for a purpose mebe god hasnt answers ur prayer because he has something better in store for u...ppl have to think of these things sometime and not be single minded.

God does answer prayers, some prayers need patience ... and there are levels of confusion that hinder things, that's why I believe to pray in spirit ... a true god would also know intentions of heart whether we verbalize our needs, or wants ...

Bob isn't basically genuine yet Bob's answer is completely consistent with the present thinking in quantum mechanics that the mere fact differences the consequence of specific experiments. between the biggest problems with information is that maximum folk of folk who use them have not got a clue approximately information. you say "we" have completed statistical sorting out. in case you have been in touch as your use of the term "we" shows the place are your effects? when you consider which you haven't any longer written your effects in the way a statistician could i'm suggesting you're employing the term "we" to intend individuals of the human race of which you're additionally a member, or possibly you're employing "we" to intend you're making a difference between people who have self assurance in a prayer answering God and people who do no longer and you're consisting of your self in the latter team. the two way, you're making mere assertions that are no longer supported by way of genuine information. Your so-noted as test is similar to a documentary I as quickly as observed the place multiple non secular people have been praying for specific terminally ill people. This grow to be a television stunt that had no medical value i'm afraid. For an test to be scientifically valid you ought to have the skill to administration all your variables and this grow to be no longer something like a controlled environment.
