Actually to tell you the truth I was brought up in a Jewish family that’s why I speak and write Hebrew, My father is a Lebanese Jew that lives in the United States In 1981 my he went to Lebanon at the request of my uncle because my grandfather was in a terminal stage with cancer, and before he passed away he made my father promise to something good for Lebanon, three days later the Israeli air force decided to bomb the village where I was born, which is very close to my father’s village is the south of Lebanon (you have to understand that at that time most villages in Lebanon had one religion, for security reasons because it was during the civil war) so my father went with a team of rescue workers to my village and as he was removing the rubble he found me he told me that I was there for five days, he was amazed that I was still alive, he decided to adopt me and take to the United States, as I said I grew up in a Jewish home so I went to Hebrew school, a Jew has his Barmetzva (or is considered a man at 13 years old) (It’s like a celebration of the entrance to manhood) I was already for my Barmitzva when my father told me that had to tell me something, so he told me that I was adopted, and the whole story, and he also told me that my natural family were Shea. It was a Thursday so he took me to the local Mosque and he introduced me to the Immam and told me that the religion that I want was totally my choice and that he loves me and if I adopt Islam he will except it and would never hold it against me, the Immam invited me to Friday mass, and I decide to honor my natural parents and adopt my natural family’s religion, and ever sense that time I pray five times a day I went to hajj once and I married a Lebanese Sunni woman.

    I was born as Muslim.

I am not very religious. Sometimes I start to think that what religion a person belongs to is becoming less important as society progresses. But, I guess it depends whom we ask.

My forefathers on my dad's side were not religious at all. Same goes for my dad. But my cousins (again my dad's side) have become very religious minded for some reason. As for me, not I am not really in line with their religious mindedness. I don't know why :S. Maybe its because I mostly grew up outside my country (all non-Muslim) and having being so distant from my relatives.

Nope, never been Atheist before. In fact I think they are sort of absurd.

As for me, I am Bangladeshi living in Thailand.

I pray to be a better Muslim.

    Walaikum salam.

    Hey Desertrose :)

first, I am sorry to read some answers which don't fit with your question rather than the humankind moral standards.

I was born from Muslim parents, but i chose Islam freely as my religion with full respect to all humankind thoughts and directions.

I have chosen it, because it complies with my soul needs, it is pure , no cheating , no lies, honest and frank....it brought peace to my heart .. removed the stress by filling the heart with trusting God.

But i have to say that there are some people who are very extreme, i do not agree with them and i believe that the message of Islam is peace message and tolerance for all people who are all created by God.......the God is for all not only for Islam or Muslims ... he created all and he knows all, so i do not agree with extremism or any thing related.

    Bye :)
