Why does Y!A allow arbitrary violations from people who merely disagree with an answer?
Autumn: I undestand they want everyone's opinion, but when only a few people disagree with an answer, even if it is an honest answer, it can be reported. That makes people stop answering, and makes Y!A worse.

Yahoo Answers gets Thousands of questions and answers every hour. There is no way that they can employ that many people to sit there and monitor every posting. That is why Yahoo answers depends on US, the users, to monitor the postings according to the rules that they set. It takes 2 or more reportings of a violation for a posting to be removed, but the person who made the posting can appeal the removal. If the posting is determined to be removed in error, then the people who reported the "violation" lose influence with their future postings---that's why they say 2 or more people to report something---if someone has lost their influence to report then it will take even more people to report a true violation before it is finally removed.

You can appeal It isn't yahoo Answers . All it takes is 2 "trusted" members to report you and the bots remove it appeals are often a waste of time and points. however if you are very sure you have been wronged by all means appeal it, the link is below. Some suggestions, If you haven't done so, edit you info so your questions and answers are hidden that way it makes it harder for trolls who enjoy reporting violations or presumed violations to stalk you. Also, avoid pages with controversial subjects such as religion, homosexuality, racism, pornography, any hatred, downloading movies or music, questions about drugs even soft drugs, etc. Even the polls section. Avoid anything that may be remotely considered illegal Don't give smart, flip or sarcastic answers nor use any profanity. Do not use language you wouldn't use when talking to your grandmother and that should keep you safe in that regard. Referring others as a moron, stupid idiot Nazi, retard or anything in that vein is derogatory and insulting to other members and clearly against the guidelines. Pay attention to the definitions of "chatting and solicitation , and what constitutes a question" Never insult another member, call them names, threaten, harass deliberately mislead or post anything in questionable taste.
Should you have axe to grind, agenda or cause to promote be it political religious social or anything similar, no matter how well intentioned you may be, this is the wrong place to promote it.
If you believe you are being stalked go to other categories. You might also consider changing your avatar and i.d.
If your posts show any semblance or insinuation of bigotry, hatred, sermonizing or ranting you can pretty much assume they will be reported and deleted.
Yahoo will not give any specifics when a question or answer is deleted.

If you appeal the violation and lose the appeal, then you did violate the rules and someone disagreeing with your answer had nothing to do with it. If you want to know why post "Why was this question (answer) a violation?" and add the original e-mail you got so the users can see the exact context. The experienced users here will explain it to you

That's not the point. Any content you post that violates the CG or TOS are subject to be reported and deleted on the spot. Now you see why there have to be rules to keep anything problematic out of here. Reading up on the rules often would keep you from having problems over violations. Nothing else matters in this case.

Untrue statement. There are rules and guidelines, if you choose to post content in violation you run the risk of being reported. You have the right to appeal if you feel the violation was unjust.

................ but, in all fairness, they allow you to appeal it and the reporter loses influence if you win the appeal. It works to your benefit to appeal every violation that you garner here.
I can't speak for small minded people who arbitrarily report answers they simply don't like. I don't associate with their sort, so I know little about how they function.

Because they want every ones opinion. :)
Hope this Helps
EDIT.) Yes, I know. But they don't care. If they get so many reports then they delete it. Thats that. Sorry.
