Can a judgment be taken out of a joint account?

I have a judgment that is over more then 10 years old, the collect agency empitied out an accout that was in my name, but didnt get very much. We now have a joint account and it has a lot of her money in it, should i worry?

    Maybe YOU don't have to worry, but SHE certainly does!

    If they attempt to enforce the judgment by seizing the funds in the joint account she'll have a limited amount of time to prove what is hers. Anything that cannot be proven to be hers is at risk of seizure. I'd STRONGLY suggest that she either drop you as a joint owner (if she's primary on the account) or move HER funds out and into a separate account.

    Should she worry? Absolutely. On a joint account, either one of you can write a check for the balance of the account...and the judgement allows the creditor to do it for you.

    Yes you should. Joint accounts are fair game.....just like jouint tax returns are.

    Yes, any account with your name on it is fair game.
