I heard that Audrey Hepburn was Anorexic. . .Is that true?

I once.read a biography about her and they claimed that her metabolism was permanently changed as a result of malnutrition during WWII. In general food was scarce. And there was a story in the book that she was carrying secret messages and had to hide from the Gestapo in a cellar basement for a long period of time, and couldn't eat. I no longer have the book unfortunately.

She was also highly strung which I suppose was to be expected after these experiences. And when she felt under a lot of pressure (dealing with publicity or the problems in her personal life, she had some difficult marriages) she tended to lose more weight. I think that maintaining a healthy weight was a lifelong battle for her. Sometimes I think that special high calorie diets were prescribed for her. When she lived in Italy, she learn how to cook pasta dishes etc. But she was also a heavy smoker and they are often very thin too.

There are still rumors around that she had secret anorexia, and of course many female celebrities do suffer from eating disorders. It's the more recent bios that seem to claim this - people saying that her attitude towards food was odd - and I haven't seen them.

I'm not sure if she was ever diagnosed as anorexic or not. I did read on her Wikipedia biography that she felt she was ugly and mentioned being "too fat" as one reason she felt she was ugly. I think mainly she was thin because she lived in a concentration camp from age 10 to 15 and was malnourished. She was also anemic. She lost weight probably due to some depression after she was separated from one of her husbands. She met her next boyfriend on a cruise and he happened to be a psychiatrist. Anyway, you can read up and decide for yourself, but I think if she'd ever been diagnosed as anorexic, Wikipedia would have mentioned it.

The belief is she did have an eating disorder, most of her biographers have said that was the case. Also, it may have contributed to her numerous miscarriages

Well she looked really thin so probably, although some people are really thin naturally, I don't know.

idk....she look so thin, but she had a beautiful glow that anorexic ppl dont have
