I'm a vegetarian and I want to become Vegan, but it's really hard! Do you have any tips? Please help!?

I've been a vegetarian since March 2 2009, and I've wanted to become a Vegan for awhile now, buts really hard! And each time I'll give in and eat some type of dairy =( and sometimes I'll eat something then afterwards find out it was made with milk or something! >=( . . . . =(

Ps - My parents support me being a Vegetarian, but not a Vegan. My dad says plain: "NO!" My mom says if I can find a diet with protien I might be allowed to.....

Do you have any links to articles or something saying that being a vegan is extremely healthy and blah for teens? That would help A LOT!

What can I eat to get lots of protien? Plus how do I know if the veggies I'm about to buy are organic or not?

hhhmmmm. . . .funny, but I don't recal asking for anyone's opinion on me becoming a vegan. . . hmmm. . .oh, thats right! I DIDN'T!!! SO STFU!!

Seriouslly? You think I want to become a vegan because it's a trend?!?!?! I've never even met a vegan! And I've only met one other vegetarian! I'm doing this because *GASP* I actually give a d*mn about the f*cking animals ur devoring that have lives!

Why would you even waste ur life by clicking on my question, read it, and anwser with ur s*it? WAY TO GO!!! YOU'VE JUST WASTED 5 MINUTES OF YOUR LIFE YOU'LL NEVER GET BACK!! To bad because ur heart is about to give out because of that FAT, GREASEY, mcdonald's big mac you ate earlier. So keep wasting time!

And WTF??? Do u really think I care that u would slap me if u were my dad? Ur NOT, so get over it!

    Protein on a vegan diet is obtained from grains, rice, and legumes. I also add Bragg's liquid amino acid to everything I eat once in a while. Nutritional yeast makes food somewhat cheesy and is also an excellent source of protein. Protein is not what we need, protein is the package, its the capsule that contains nutrients. Look it up!

    Being vegan means you get protein more directly that vegetarians or meat eaters. You body works hard to break down animal products, getting them from vegan foods means you get them fast and you don't get the saturated fats and cholesterol that you get when you obtain it through dairy and meat.

    Your parents are just like that because a lot of people feel threatened by vegans. Its radical you know, to say, "mom and dad, the diet you eat is not healthy, so I am eating differently."

    You parents were raised to believe that milk, cheese, eggs and meat were essential to making a body run right.

    They were raised with the same food pyramid as you and they LIKE these foods you are forsaking. You being vegan makes them feel guilty and upset and confused all at once.

    Explain to them about protein, have the three of you go to a nutritionist and talk about it. Do whatever it takes but don't put this off because you don't know your facts and haven't done this research for yourself.

    A balanced vegan diet is very difficult to manage. Most vegans that I have known do not adequately replace the proteins that would otherwise come from meat, fish and poultry.

    You can get some protein from whole grains and rice but you have to watch that you aren't eatting too many carbs. You can add nutritional yeast but if you add too much you increase your uric acid. It is not an easy balance.

    Human anatomy is designed to be omnivorous. We do not have two stomachs. We have incisors....

  • Why do you want to become vegan? Tbh they are seriously stupid because it is not healthy to become vegan, animals are meant to produce milk etc for us to eat, no other reason, and if you became vegan apparently you have to have injections like every month etc, don't go through with it. I'm not being mean, I am just telling you it isn't healthy, and you should just stick with being vegetarian.

    There is no logical reason to become a vegan. You're going to find enough nuts out there who will disagree, but they're nuts. Why do you want to become a vegan? Is it trendy? Is it cool? Why? What logical reason do you have for doing this?

    Being a vegan is even more unhealthy than being a vegetarian. It is extremely difficult for vegans to get good sources of protein in their diets. Beans, whole grains, and nuts can only supply so much, and don't contain all the essential amino acids. You really should include meat in your diet to get enough protein, iron, and B-vitamins.

    If I were your dad, I wouldn't even let you be vegetarian. If you don't like what's on the dinner table, then you can go hungry!

    Grow up and learn about nutrition from an expert, not your crazy teanage girlfriends

    If you want to eat nuts and berries your whole life go ahead. I hope I never encounter people like you in my life.
