blueray player speakers play sounds but not the characters voices?

I have a couple of questions regarding this. What is the make and model number of your player? Do you have the latest firmware update for your player? Is there a receiver attached or built in to your player? If you have a receiver, how is the player hooked up to it (Digital Coax, Optical or HDMI)?

With only having the two speakers and a sub hooked up, you may need to adjust the settings in the player. Look in the set up for audio options and adjust some of the settings in it. Make sure that if one thing does not work, switch it back then try a different one. Is the player hooked up to your TV via HDMI? If it is, you can hook you sound system up to your TV and get sound that way as well.

If you have a 5.1 surround sound set up, and no voices, I'd say your center channel is missing, that's the channel that's going to carry all the speaking parts. Without any other details on your set up, and what audio track you've chosen I can't offer more.
