If i disable my internet will a trojan become passive and also, if the trojan acts as a "security system" and blocks downloads of anti-viruses, will a disk or pen drive installations do the trick?

These fake security system viruses are a real pain to get rid of. And many get by my real active antivrus program. You can try the removal tools if you want but many dont work.

This has worked every time I get one running XP. At least 8 times so far and it is simple.

Shut off computer.

Restart and as soon as welcome screen comes on go and run system restore to a time prior to infection (yesterday).

You must start the system restore program before the virus loads so be quick.Once the virus loads it wont let you start the restore program.

Short answer: no about the passive part. Get a good AV program that installs from a CD. Suggest you read these reviews and buy one of the good ones.
